This scenic drive explores the diverse landscapes and coastal communities of the central Gulf Coast, beginning with a westbound journey through the Florida Panhandle and into Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Along the way, the route crosses the Apalachicola River, Escambia Bay, Mobile Bay, and several other waterways, with bridges, causeways, and the I-10 tunnel in Mobile offering changing views of the surrounding landscape. The journey continues toward New Orleans, crossing over Lake Pontchartrain, with a brief passage along the historic St. Charles Avenue.
The drive then turns east along Florida’s Gulf Coast, passing Pensacola Beach, Navarre Beach, Fort Walton Beach, Destin, and Miramar Beach. Scenic stretches of US 98 and Highway 30A lead toward Panama City Beach, where white sand beaches and emerald-colored waters define the coastline. Captured in February 2024, this journey combines the expansive waterways of the northern Gulf Coast with the quieter coastal scenery and rural landscapes of Florida.
