This scenic drive follows Colorado’s Pikes Peak Highway from the beginning near Cascade all the way to the summit of Pikes Peak at 14,115 feet. The road climbs steadily through dense forests and mountain scenery before reaching Crystal Reservoir and continuing higher into the changing alpine landscape. As the elevation increases, the trees gradually thin out and the views become wider, with rocky slopes and distant mountains appearing around each turn.
The final section brings a series of dramatic switchbacks above treeline, passing through the rugged landscape of Devil’s Playground before reaching the summit. Recorded in July, the journey captures the contrast between the green forests below and the open, rocky terrain near the top of the mountain. From the first mile to the summit, this is a complete drive through one of Colorado’s most memorable mountain landscapes.
Captured in July 2024.
